If you live in West Yorkshire, Tong Garden Centre probably doesn't need any introduction. As lifelong locals with fond memories of choosing Christmas Trees from Tong every year, we were honoured to be able to work with them.
Set in 17 acres of beautiful Yorkshire countryside, Tong Garden Centre welcome you to enjoy shopping for your garden and home in the heart of Yorkshire.
As one of the biggest independently-owned garden centres in Yorkshire, you can enjoy spending time there, browsing the extensive outdoor plant department, an enviable range of gift and home accessories as well as garden furniture, all you need to keep your home and garden looking great all year round.
New owners, new branding, new colours, new images. Basically new everything. A brand we grew up with and a blank canvas to create a website to reflect the new Tong.
No pressure then.
We spent a long time working closely with the marketing team at Tong to plan their new website to ensure it met everyone's needs. From the quick check to see whether the centre was open to the coach party planning a day out, everyone needed to be able to find the information they were looking for quickly.
The new Tong Garden Centre website was built using our favourite ecommerce platform, Magento 2. This gives Tong the power to manage their products and content whenever they want so the website is always up to date.
We've trained a few members of the marketing team at Tong and they're all doing a stellar job of maintaining the website with very little input from us.
The website is fully responsive and has a pretty slide-out menu for smaller screens. More importantly the content people need is incredibly easy to find.
Sections on news, events and special offers are proving popular with visitors.
We even got the opportunity to decorate the website for Christmas.

Shortly after completing the main Tong website we also built a sister-site for Tong's outdoor playground, Grass Hoppers. The talented designers over at Picturesmiths had created a suite of characters for the playground and we just got to have fun with it. It's not often you get to design a website which includes a dragonfly holding a sandwich.
